Course overview
An emphasis on the basic principles of preaching and teaching the Word of God, emphasising homiletical preaching styles, message preparation, communication methods, and treatment of contemporary issues. Attention is given to those elements of craftsmanship and theological understanding basic to persuasive preaching.

After completing this course, students will be able to:
- Prepare an expository sermon.

- Analyse a Scripture passage, analyse the content and structure of a book of
the Bible, and trace a theme through a book of the Bible.

- Describe the building blocks of therapeutic preaching.

- Utilise modern technology while preparing sermons, as well as during the delivery of the sermon.

- Select the type of sermon needed for any particular audience, prepare and
deliver it, using the best methods for the occasion.

Meet the facilitators 

Rev. Samuel Thomas 
MTh FRSA 

Samuel is the pastor of the NTCG Southampton branch. He is an Ordained NTCG bishop. He has Twenty- five years preaching experience in the NTCG preaching tradition.
A PhD student at the University of Roehampton - Area of research 'Preaching'.
Samuel has published several articles on preaching- he is a visiting lecturer and he conducts seminars and workshops on preaching.
